Why?

WHY?

are we putting  on  this conference

With governments around the world beginning to investigate, develop and, in some countries,  including the UK, offer online courts and with an EU law now requiring companies selling online to signpost dissatisfied customers to approved providers of Online Dispute Resolution (ODR), this major international 2 day conference brings together leading experts and players in the field to set out the landscape and guide delegates into understanding wherein lie the benefits for business and what are the risks as well as  information on what is available and what is on the near horizon.

As well as identifying ODR initiatives and demonstrating solutions, there will also be discussion of the impact of ODR on access to justice and on ethical issues in system design such as the potential to 'game' the system for unfair advantage .

The conference will also feature the impact of developments in Artificial Intelligence, the use to be made of blockchain technology and explain the increasing significance of smart contracts for lawyers, mediators, arbitrators  and ICT developers .

Speakers include Lord Briggs, Justice  of the UK Supreme Court,  Colin Rule, the former Head of ODR at eBay, Bill Kingdon, the MD of the International Cotton Association,Kerry Greenidge,  the team head of the newly opened  HM Online Court,  Caroline Sheppard, the Chief Adjudicator at the Traffic Penalty Tribunal and Diana Wallis,  former Vice President of the European Parliament and over 30 other speakers.

The event forms part of The International Business Festival , described as the world's biggest business festival. It will be held , on the 27th June at the aLoft Hotel  1 North John St, Liverpool, with the second day (28th June) at  the Exhibition Centre  next to the Echo Arena and Conference Centre on the waterfront.

All delegates will receive a free pass to the IBF itself, valid for the full three weeks of the festival (standard price £105).

The event will inform ADR practitioners, whether mediators, arbitrators, or ombudsmen, of the new technology options and inform businesses of the benefits of ODR in improving supply chain relations and customer loyalty.
